Citra-Lock™ (pH 6.71) is a central venous catheter lock solution, used to lock central venous catheters. It is based on a high concentration trisodium citrate solution.

The triple action of Citra-Lock™ reduces catheter related bacteraemia, it prevents clotting and formation of biofilm.

Mode of action

Citrate binds to calcium:

• It prevents calcium from promoting cell division

• It prevents calcium acting as co-factor in the clotting cascade

• It prevents formation of biofilm
